PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $85,800.00-$104,800.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $66,600.00 - $124,300.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. To join our dynamic team, we require candidates to be residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, or SC. If you're located in Washington state and within a reasonable driving distance from Tukwila, we are requesting that you come into our HQ on Tuesdays & Wednesdays. For those candidates that live outside the commute distance of TFC and in any of our approved remote work locations, this role will be remote. Remote or onsite, we are committed to ensuring you are fully engaged and included in our collaborative environment.

IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE

As a Financial Accountant II at BECU, you'll be more than just a numbers expert-you'll be a key driver in ensuring financial integrity and operational excellence. You'll use your accounting expertise to analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial data that supports critical decision-making across the credit union. Your work will ensure every transaction is accurate, compliant, and transparent, allowing BECU to continue serving members with confidence.

By collaborating with teams across the organization, you'll provide meaningful financial insights and help improve processes, ensuring BECU's operations are as efficient and effective as possible. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Analyze and Reconcile Accounts: Monitor and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts-including member transactions, loans, fixed assets, payroll, and more-while resolving complex discrepancies with accuracy and care.
Ensure Accurate Classification: Review transactions to ensure correct classification of expenses and appropriate general ledger use, keeping financial records clean and compliant.
Safeguard Financial Integrity: Maintain the integrity of accounting data by ensuring completeness, accurate classification, compliance with procedures, and proper documentation.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with employees throughout BECU to ensure accurate transaction recording and resolve accounting or operational concerns-acting as a trusted advisor.
Prepare Journal Entries: Create timely, accurate journal entries for daily operations and month-end close activities tied to your assigned accounts.
Lead Month-End Reviews: Conduct monthly and annual financial reviews, identifying trends and providing thoughtful analysis and commentary on variances.
Support Business Partners: Offer in-depth accounting guidance to business units, helping them navigate issues with detailed analysis, recommendations, and reconciliations.
Improve Processes: Assist in designing and improving accounting processes and systems for greater efficiency and effectiveness-including testing and implementation of system upgrades.
Support Audits and Reporting: Prepare reports and schedules to support external audits and regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local regulations.
Drive Process Innovation: Partner with teammates and other departments to identify process improvement opportunities, driving stronger internal controls and greater accuracy.
Document Procedures: Ensure all procedures in your areas of responsibility are clearly documented and maintained for consistency and continuity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum three years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities with ease.
Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work full-time hours, including additional hours as necessary.

Desired Qualifications

CPA license preferred.
Familiarity with financial reporting systems and data analysis tools.
