We're hiring a Tax Accountant at our Corporate HQ in Columbia, MO and we're looking for someone who's ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.
- Support tax filings, mailings, and payments.
- Assist with information requests from internal and external auditors.
- Conduct detailed research and analysis of indirect tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance for the organization.
- Evaluate purchasing data for use tax reporting requirements.
- Handle complex invoice level tax inquiries from field employees.
- Perform other related duties or assist with special projects.
- Perform month-end closing responsibilities relating to taxes.
- Communicate across various departments to create and maintain efficient workflows.
- Diagnose opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency of processes relating to tax related accounts.
- Collaborate with the team to streamline processes, design new workflows when needed, implement new systems, and train new team members.
- Use formulas, pivot tables and macros to manage and analyze revenue streams and related data.
- Work with the broader team on strategic initiatives relating to a wide variety of taxes applicable to our business.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with sales tax calculating software (e.g., Avalara preferred).
- Proficient in Excel, Google Sheet, or similar spreadsheet tools.
- Solid ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Process focused and detail-oriented individual who strives for accuracy.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax.
- 1-5 years of experience, preferred.
- Must be able to sit at a desk while using a computer for long periods of time
