SUMMARY
It is helpful to think of the Company as a “Family Office”. The Company acts as Principal for its own accounts and Agent for its clients; the Company does prepare tax returns. The Manager will work closely with the Director and an Administrator to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations applicable to the income taxation of the Company’s fiduciary accounts and those of its clients.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’sdegree, together with at least 5 years’ experience as a practicing accountant in the individual / fiduciary income tax area, or similar experience through a bank, trust company or other private firm focusing on high-net-worth clients, is required. Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent preferred. Other advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., MBA, JD, LLM) would be a plus as would be experience or familiarity with partnership taxation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include those listed below; other duties may be assigned.
· Organize, instruct and coordinate the delivery of client tax data from the Company’s systems to third-party tax preparers.
· Oversee and coordinate the timely electronic filing of federal and state tax returns with third-party tax preparers.
· Assist in determining multistate fiduciary income tax filing needs.
· Coordinate and assure the timely payment of taxes from Company and client accounts, including interaction with Trust Department colleagues to assure availability of adequate funds.
· Review and organize trust system data and work with vendor to issue tax information forms
· Research, respond to, and resolve notices received from tax authorities relating to filings.
· Cooperate in maintenance of individual and fiduciary client demographic database and delivery of data therefrom to tax preparers.
· Address special projects, such as but not limited to data requests related to audits, as they occur.

· Special Skills: Working knowledge of tax laws, regulations and procedures applicable to individuals and trusts.
· Technological Skills: Proficient in using core Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
· Interpersonal Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to communicate within and across departments and externally with tax preparers. A good collaborator, but also a self-starter. The Manager will be expected to prioritize their own schedule and responsibilities in coordination with the Director and manage a particular client project from start to finish.
· Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret legal documents such as trust instruments, statutes and regulations, and legal and financial memorandums. Ability to write complex memos, analyses, and correspondence. Ability to effectively speak with and listen to clients, co-workers, and others.
· Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic and advanced mathematical skills commensurate with someone meeting the education and experience requirements. Ability to learn and thereafter apply unfamiliar skills and techniques.
· Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute detailed and often involved written or oral instructions. Ability to evaluate and solve problems involving multiple variables in non-standardized situations.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the Employee is required to repetitively move arms, wrists, and hands in either a sitting or standing position for occasionally extended periods of time. The Employee is consistently required to use hands to type on computer keyboard, manipulate mouse, and operate a telephone. The Employee is frequently required to bend, and twist neck, and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
The Employee is frequently required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. The office environment is typical in its levels of light, sound, and temperature with normal variances occurring from time to time in each element.
This is a hybrid position. The Employee may work remotely as specified by Company policy from time to time but will be expected to be flexible and be in the office as duties require.
