Senior Tax Manager with Partner Opportunity
Our firm is a premier, boutique, full-service accounting firm currently serving the greater Chicagoland area. We are looking for an experienced senior tax manager or tax director desiring to achieve partner who is looking for a new opportunity, experience, and challenge to fast-track their career while actively participating in and meaningfully contributing to the direction, growth and leadership of the firm.
What You'll Do
You will provide federal and state tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base in various industry sectors, with an emphasis on the hospitality, real estate, franchises, and healthcare industries as well as individuals. You will work directly with the clients, assist in managing the firm’s tax processes, review returns of preparers, be involved with the preparation of some complex returns, have access to an elite group of specialists when needed through the firm’s small business alliance with a well-known national CPA firm, and be connected to a strong support system from firm leadership to ensure you are set up for success in your role at the firm and future career.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Serve as a key leader in our expanding tax practice.
- Maintaining and developing strong client relationships with the ability to provide consultation on various federal and state tax consulting/compliance engagements.
- Advising clients on a variety of tax issues including tax compliance, tax consulting, and business restructuring.
- Responsible for the review of the firm’s tax clients and preparation of the firm’s more complex returns.
- Collaboration and consultation with third party quality control service firm on complex tax matters as they arise.
- Overseeing federal tax compliance and consulting projects requiring tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates.
- Perform tax research as needed, including keeping the firm apprised of new and proposed tax law changes.
- Managing engagement workflow, engagement team resources, and providing assistance with engagement billing.
- Begin developing a referral network, with the assistance of the partners, allowing you to participate in the growth of the firm through client expansion.
Qualifications
- In-depth tax planning experience with individuals, closely held businesses, S-Corporations, Partnerships, LLCs and Estates and Trusts (note: we are looking for more than a tax preparer)
- Demonstrated ability to work through complex tax situations and perform meaningful tax planning
- Strong knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations. Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements
- Ability to supervise and review tax preparer work
- Strong technical and communication skills
- High quality client service and ethical standards
- Passion for leveraging technology and exploring new technology solutions
Education and Experience
- Active CPA License
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Advanced degree such as Masters of tax, JD, and/or LLM, a plus
- A minimum of 7 years of recent public accounting experience with a strong emphasis on taxation
- Proven tax research experience
- Prior experience with the following software a plus: Lacerte or CCH ProSystems
- Proficiency in using Word, Outlook, Excel and QuickBooks

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
