GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING & GAAP REPORTING SPECIALIST OFFICE OF ACCOUNTING
Salary Range: $87.50 HOURLY RATE Salary will be negotiable and commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) is currently seeking a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to support and assist with governmental accounting and GAAP reporting. The contract worker will assist with preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and GASB standards, and supporting audits and year-end closing activities.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution is required, along with an active CPA license. Experience in governmental accounting and GAAP reporting is required. Experience with Mississippi's MAGIC is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience preparing the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) for federal education programs.
