We look forward to you becoming a critical member of the Sundog Solar Team by playing a key role in guiding and implementing financial organization, strategy and process. Oversight and management of reporting systems and controls, overseeing payroll, human resources, sales commissions, job-costing, inventory, annual Tax accounting reports and relevant financial data that is helpful in running the business. As a true strategist, this person will be a HANDS-ON business leader who will ensure Sundog Solar's financial reporting reflects accurately and efficiently, assessing organizational performance against Sundog's near-term and long-term financial goals.
Management of multiple company books, company financial analysis, financial relationships and reporting, tax preparation, treasury, and audit for all companies relating to Sundog Solar.
Major Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Online Treasury and ACH Payment management
- Audits - (Workers Compensation, Insurance, State, Federal)
- Check Printing
- Company biweekly Payroll (including commissions, bonus, workers comp., Fed and State unemployment filings, PTO accrual)
- Bill Payments
- AP/AR
- Prepare and process monthly sales tax reports to the State of Maine. Reconcile reported sales to the P&L sales income statement and the spreadsheet of reported sales.
- Record timesheets daily in Quickbooks. Process payroll bi-weekly, job-costing time. Process W-2’s and submission to the SSA. Process Annual 1099’s and submission to the IRS. Process bi-weekly Worker’s Compensation reports and payments along with job-cost premiums. Reconcile monthly health care payroll deductions and premiums. Track various employee benefits.
- Reconcile bank accounts daily. Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly.
- Prepare and process General Journal Entries.
- Provide data for general liability, sales, sub-contractors and workers compensation insurance audits.
- Prepare financial statements quarterly. Process end of year accounting transactions for CPA, including accruals and reconciliation of Balance Sheets accounts.
- Maintain complete books for Solar Arrays companies. Invoice quarterly based on kwh produced.
- HR - (New hire paperwork, QB data entry & syncing with relevant apps., employee physical binders & administering Healthcare, dental & vision insurance
- Communication and notification of IRA management firm for employees
- Establish new metrics and systems that maintain accountability and manage risks
- Lead an accurate and disciplined bookkeeping process to provide financial insight and direction to management and decision makers.
- Work with Owner to support the company in developing and maintaining optimal capital structure, minimizing the cost of capital and maintaining financial flexibility
- Lead and manage the company’s accounting, control and tax function working with third party CPA
- Ensure that the company maintains adequate financial and non-financial controls and that it leverages information technology in the accumulation, analysis, interpretation and distribution of financial information
- Ensure that all levels of the company, and external constituents, are provided with accurate, timely and relevant financial reporting to run the business
Ideal candidates will have:
- A higher degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping or relevant experience
- An understanding of bookkeeping, accounting, tax preparation, financial reporting, human resources and business management
- Strong proficiency in Quickbooks and other accounting programs
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to create best processes and systems to support the roll
