We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team and assist us with building a tax preparation and tax planning arm of the business. Enrolled Agent preferable, or willing to obtain the designation in a short time.
Job Description:
As a Tax Preparer and Tax Planning Assistant at McNamara Financial, you will prepare tax returns for Individuals, families, and businesses (if comfortable and desired), leveraging your expertise as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or an Enrolled Agent (EA). You will also cooperate with our Advisors to assist with tax planning and tax mitigation strategies for our clients throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely tax returns for individuals, families, and small businesses (if comfortable), adhering to all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with Advisors to answer tax-related questions and provide advice to minimize clients’ tax liabilities moving forward.
- Assist the Advisors in developing tax-efficient investment strategies and retirement planning solutions for clients, leveraging your expertise in tax law and regulations.
- Compliance Management: Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for tax savings for clients.
- Financial Analysis: Assist Advisors with analyzing financial documents and investment portfolios to identify potential tax implications.
- Advisor Education: Educate Advisors on tax-saving strategies, retirement planning options, and other tax-related matters to empower them to make informed financial decisions on behalf of their clients.
- Documentation and Reporting: Assist Advisors and staff with identifying and acquiring documentation and information necessary to accurately prepare client tax return. Maintain accurate records of client tax information, prepare tax-related reports, and ensure compliance with filing deadlines.
Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; EA designation strongly preferred, or willingness to obtain within a short time.
● Proven experience (3 years) in tax preparation within an established firm, required. Tax planning experience preferred.
● Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply complex tax provisions.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate tax concepts to Advisors.
● Proficiency in tax preparation software and financial planning tools.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
