About the Opportunity
GroundingWork is proud to partner with Little Fish Accounting—a nationally recognized, people-first firm—to find their next Senior Tax Accountant.
Little Fish Accounting isn’t your typical accounting firm—and that’s entirely by design. Built specifically for service-based businesses with small teams, they combine deep tax and accounting expertise with a values-driven approach. Their mission? To ensure financial strategy serves both the business and the life of every client they support.
This is a unique opportunity to join a firm where your technical skills matter—but so does how you show up. You’ll be a key player in a team that leads with clarity, builds real relationships, and makes tax support feel approachable and impactful.
What You’ll Do
As the Senior Tax Accountant, you’ll operate as both a subject matter expert and a trusted advisor. You won’t just prepare returns—you’ll shape tax strategy, lead client conversations, and elevate the quality of service our client is known for. Key responsibilities include:
- Own the tax experience for a portfolio of small business clients—from onboarding through planning, filing, and year-end review
- Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and alignment with each client’s broader financial goals
- Lead proactive tax planning, including quarterly projections, retirement strategies, and deduction optimization
- File quarterly estimated tax payments and provide timely communication to clients around upcoming deadlines and obligations
- Identify risks and opportunities in client financials and escalate complex issues for strategic resolution
- Analyze and reconcile financial records in preparation for tax filing, collaborating with internal team members as needed
- Serve as the lead communicator with clients—explaining nuanced tax decisions in a clear, approachable way
- Document and manage all deadlines, extensions, and filing requirements across your book of business
- Contribute to internal process improvements, bringing forward-thinking ideas to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and client experience
- Uphold audit-readiness and quality standards, maintaining organized digital files and ensuring documentation meets internal protocols
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- EA certification (preferred or in progress)
- At least 4 years of experience in small business tax prep and advisory
- Strong communication skills and confidence in client-facing work
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and tax software (Drake preferred)
- Experience with remote tools like Google Drive, Slack, and ClickUp
- A proactive, organized, and detail-oriented work style
